PERFORMED TO PACKED HOUSE - DANIELA NARDI AT THE LULA LOUNGE
October 24 2008
Daniela Nardi performed to a packed house at the release party for her greatly anticipated second album The Rose Tattoo. Toronto's Lula Lounge played host to the night of music and celebration. I was fortunate to be a part of this special night.
My friend Marnie made me aware of Daniela's music following the 2003 release One True Thing. Her style can be described as a blend of modern jazz and pop. The Rose Tattoo brings elements of electronica into the mix. Her vocals/ harmonies are flawless and musicianship, both in studio and onstage, is top-notch. Lyrically, Daniela's music is relatable on many levels. The songs are personal, poetic, and powerful. She has accurately been described as:
"Somewhere between Sting and Joni Mitchell, her musical world is fine, smooth, filled with light and human depth."

Great to see a capacity crowd at Lula Lounge for the recent CD release party for The Rose Tattoo, the long-awaited new album from this fine local songstress. Nardi responded with a passionate performance, and her fluent vocals and piano work was neatly complemented by an ace band including guitarist Greg Kavanagh (her co-producer) and multi-instrumentalist Colleen Allen. The album was dedicated to and inspired by Nardi's late mother, and the singer's between-song comments were moving ones.

DANIELA NARDI MAKES HER MARK - TANDEM MAGAZINE
October 18 2008
It has been a long wait for fans of Daniela Nardi eager to hear new material from
this multi-talented Toronto-based songstress. Her debut CD, One True Thing, was
released in 2003, and it received positive international reviews and notched
significant smooth jazz radio play in North America.
The fact that a keenly-anticipated follow-up is just now being released is more a
case of real life getting in the way, rather than any creative procrastination on
Nardi's part, as she explained to Tandem over coffee in Little Italy recently. In
2004, my mother Rosetta was diagnosed with cancer. I just stopped music, she
recalls. "Nothing else mattered."

EVERYTHING IS COMING UP ROSES - THE ROSE TATTOO NOW AVAILABLE!
September 15 2008
The recent journey of Toronto-based songstress Daniela Nardi may have been a turbulent and traumatic one, but she has emerged in triumphant style with The Rose Tattoo. This musically evocative and deeply emotional work reflects life lessons learned, and fuses passion, poetic power, and musical and vocal skill, to striking effect.
For The Rose Tattoo, Daniela collaborated with Toronto producer Greg Kavanagh (BKS, Jennifer Warnes, Chrissie Hynde) to help realize her vision of acoustic nu-jazz blended with electronic music. Together they have brought about an evolution and transformation in Daniela’s sophisticated sound, while preserving the essence of her earlier sound. The open minded and adventurous approach has created a record of 10 new tracks that can only be summed up as: EarthyModernPopJazzWorldCool
